Film Review: Transformers: The Last Knight

This is probably going to be the shortest film review I've ever done...

I wanted to see this film. I loved the first three films and I quite liked the fourth - but not as much - so I was looking forward to seeing the fifth installment.

20 Years of Harry Potter Magic

Happy 20th anniversary to Harry Potter! I can't believe it has been this long since the release of the first book in this fantastic, magical series.

I've always been a huge Harry Potter fan and I can still remember where I was when I first read each book and how it felt to fall in love with this world. I can also remember being woken up in the middle of the night by my parents, who presented me with the book that my Dad had been out to get at midnight. He did this a few times actually and every time they would wake me up, I'd get excited to have the book and then I'd be told to go to bed and that I could read it in the morning. What kind of parent wakes their bookworm child up in the early hours to show them their most anticipated book of the year, only to tell them they can't have it yet?! They actually expected me to sleep!

Anyway, now I'm 25 and I'm still a huge Potter fan!

I've done all of the quizzes on the Pottermore website to get sorted into my house and more. For anyone who is interested, here is what I got:

My Hogwarts house: I'm in Ravenclaw. I was pretty confident that I would be a Ravenclaw before I even took the quiz, so I was happy with this. That's why I purchased the Ravenclaw edition of their new hardback book (see the photo above).

My wand: A 14 1/2 inch Laurel wood wand with a unicorn hair core. It apparently has a slightly springy flexibility, it cannot perform a dishonourable act and the unicorn hair makes it the most faithful of wands.

My Patronus: A dolphin. I wasn't thrilled with the patronus of a dolphin, but there's nothing you can do to change it.

Which house are you in? Do you know your patronus? Take the quizzes on the Pottermore website here.

What I Got For My Birthday 2017

It was my 25th birthday a couple of weeks ago and this past week I posted a video on my YouTube channel showing you some of the things I received for my birthday. So I thought I'd share it here on my blog too.

This is by no means a way of me showing off, it's just something I wanted to try out and share with you, if you're interested.

I'm not going to be showing you every single gift that I got for my birthday, because some things just won't be very interesting to anyone else. Plus I'd end up being here for a very long time if I did show every item!

So, here is what I got for my birthday... (I'll give you a hint: there are books involved!)

Film Review: Gifted

Hi guys! Sorry I've been away from the blog for a while. I've been having the busiest time with general life things and work the past couple of weeks and I just haven't had the time to sit down and write. I'm so glad to be back and to have that time now.

On Friday, for the first time in a while, I went to the cinema to see Gifted on opening night. I had the opportunity to see it early (on the Monday) but as I said, I have been so busy that I wasn't able to make it. Still, I was very excited to see this film.

I saw the trailer for this ages ago and was waiting for it to be released, going by the date on the trailer, only to find out that it was a US release date and that we had to wait even longer here in the UK. The same thing has happened with the movie Everything, Everything and I'm still waiting for that one (not so patiently!)

So, here are my thoughts on this movie, starring Chris Evans...

24 Hour Readathon

Last Monday was a bank holiday here in the UK and I decided about a month ago that I wanted to do a 24 hour readathon. I decided that this bank holiday Monday was the perfect opportunity to do this.

I vlogged the whole experience and it's now up on my YouTube channel.

Click play on the video below to see what happened as soon as it hit midnight, how much coffee I consumed, which books I chose to read and how much I actually read...

Film Review: Wonder Woman

Everyone who knows me will know that I'm a Marvel girl and I will always choose a Marvel film or superhero over anything DC but I've been wanting to watch this movie from the moment I heard they were making it.

I loved the taster we got of Wonder Woman in Batman V Superman and my need to see this film only grew after I watched the trailer for the first time.

I almost booked us in for the midnight showing - to be one of the first to see it - but there weren't any decent seats left. This was probably a good thing though as I ended up starting a new book (Throne of Glass, if you're interested). I became so addicted to the story that I didn't put it down until the early hours and I would like to have seen anyone try and take that book from my hands last night, even with the prospect of a highly anticipated film.

However, we still went along on opening night to watch this female-led superhero movie.
