Film Review: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

It's finally here! Guardians of the Galaxy is one of my favourite Marvel movies ever, so I have been so excited to see the second installment since it was confirmed to be in pre-production. So, in my usual style, I booked tickets for opening night and have been (not so) patiently waiting for this moment when I can tell you all about it.

Just to be clear, this will be a spoiler free review. I hate spoilers in reviews without a warning so I tend to never put any in my film reviews. A quick shout out though to the muppet who wrote about an end-of-credits scene on Twitter which gave away a moment in the film. He has since been blocked and angry words have been uttered.

Anyway, let's get on with the review...

My Latest Reads: SundayYAthon

I took part in the SundayYAthon this past weekend over Easter, from Thursday 13th to Monday 17th April. You can find out more about it or read other blog posts about this weekend of reading by clicking the hashtag #SundayYAthon here.

It took me a while to narrow down a reading list that was actually doable, because I had seven books out from the library, two new books that I'd purchased myself and five ARCS to choose from. Eventually I chose four books, because that felt manageable in five days, and I chose a variety of genres. The books I picked were:

I'm pleased - and pretty proud - to report that I finished all four books in the five days. I've been reading a huge amount in the last couple of weeks but I was impressed with how much I managed in this time frame as I was also spending time with my family and actually enjoying the Easter celebrations. Also, all of these books are from the library. Here's how I did over the five days:

I'm Ready For: The Tone It Up Bikini Series 2017

I love Tone It Up. I've been a fan of the girls for years and I've taken part in series that they've run in the past, such as the Bikini Series, Frisky Fall and the New Year Challenge.

My Monthly Favourites: March 2017

Oops! So my monthly favourites are a little later than planned again, but at least they're on here now. These are my monthly favourites for March...

I've probably mentioned this palette before but I've been relying on this for my contour, brows and highlight the last few weeks. I haven't taken a picture of mine because it's a bit messy! I also don't think they make this palette anymore as I haven't seen it in stores and I couldn't find it on their website, sorry.

Spoiler-Free Book Review: And Then They Ran by Katy Cannon

A big thank you to Stripes Publishing (and a special mention to Beth who contacted me), an imprint at Little Tiger Press, for sending me an early uncorrected proof copy of And Then We Ran by Katy Cannon. You can view Katy's website here.

I was so excited to read this book. I knew as soon as I saw this book cover that I wanted to read it, so after reading the description I was completely sold.

I'm Loving: Smashbox + Casey Holmes Spotlight Palettes

Being in the UK means that we got Casey Holmes' Smashbox palette later than some people. Those lucky people in the US got them first and I've been loving the photos that people have been posting so far.

It was released in the UK this past week. I wasn't expecting it because I'd read that it would be out here in April, but it ended up being March instead. When I first saw that it had been released on the Smashbox UK website I went to it immediately, only to find that the pearl palette was out of stock. They had the gold but as I'm quite fair-skinned I knew I'd get more use out of the pearl shades. So I sat in wait for it to come back in stock.

Luckily, it was back in stock the very next day. Again, I was straight on the website buying myself the palette. It finally arrived yesterday, typically after I'd been on a night out and could have used the blow a fuse pearl shade, but I also went out last night so I still got to try it out.
