Janay Brazier: Organising My Bookcase

My latest YouTube video went up yesterday and this week it's me reorganising my bookshelf. I had new books that I needed to add to the shelf and a few that I wanted to shuffle around. So here's the outcome of that video:

Film Review: Hacksaw Ridge

There has been a lot of buzz around this film and although the trailer looked amazing, it wasn't one that I was desperate to see. I knew that I wanted to see it at some point, but I wasn't in any rush. I love films that are based on a true story and the fact that it was an extremely heroic true story was incredibly appealing.

I will say in advance, this is a tough film to watch in some parts, but if you can handle the death, gore and tension of such a film then you need to see this one.

Janay Brazier: WHSmith Zoella Book Club Video Review

I've finished all of the books from the second round of the WHSmith Zoella Book Club, with only one Twitter Takeover night left to go on Tuesday 31st, so I've uploaded a video to my YouTube channel reviewing them all.

I'm Excited For: Films of 2017

This post has gone up a little later than I originally planned but it kind of worked in my favour as I planned to pick ten films I wanted to watch in 2017, but I've already seen two of the movies on that list - A Monster Calls and La La Land - so I only need to write about eight:

Spider-Man: HomecomingLet's start with Marvel - obviously - and I'm stupidly excited for this film because I can't wait to see Tom Holland as Spider-Man again. I loved his scenes in Captain America: Civil War and the trailer looks incredible. I can't decide which Marvel film I'm most excited for this year!

Janay Brazier: The GoodReads Tag

This post was meant to go up earlier in the week but I've been ill this week with the worst cold I've ever had, I've been really achy and I've struggled to sleep. I'm sorry it's late but (finally) here it is.

So here's my first book-related video on my YouTube channel. It's still a strange feeling when you talk to a camera, but I'm sure it will get easier. Honestly, it's easier talking to a person than a camera!

Still, I'm rolling with it in the hope that I'll settle with it eventually. It would be no good if I gave up two videos in just because it's something different.

Film Review: La La Land

With all of the hype surrounding this film, you could have bet your bottom dollar that I was going to get into a cinema screen with this ASAP. Opening weekend for films with a buzz such as this is always busy on the opening weekend, but that wasn't going to stop me.

I dragged Clay along, who didn't realise what it was until we got there (honestly, as the first scene started he asked 'Is this a musical? I didn't know it was all singing and dancing'), but I promise I showed him the trailers and told him what it was.

Nevermind him, let's get on with the review...

Janay Brazier: 50 Facts About Me

I thought I'd share my first YouTube video with you all. It went live earlier this evening and I was pretty nervous about it. It's not the best quality or the best editing, but I'm only just starting out and nobody's videos are ever perfect from the beginning.

Here is my first video, which I did as an introduction to my new channel. It's 50 facts about me:

My Monthly Favourites: December 2016

Here are my final favourites for 2016:

Our honeymoon to New York City this Christmas was obviously the highlight of my month. I'll be doing a full blog post about what we did while we were there very soon, but here are a few pictures until then.

Vlogmas was in my favourites last December, but I love it so much that I'm putting it on this year's list too. I've been watching Zoella, Tanya Burr and Casey Holmes share their daily vlogs on the run-up to Christmas. I usually watched them whilst I was getting ready in the morning.

A Quick Note: Things Are Changing

I have been wanting to write this post for some time now, and it's finally the right time.

As much as I love writing my blog, I've found it can come across as randomised and disjointed. I've been doing film reviews a lot, but then I'll throw in the odd post about makeup, skincare, music, and so on. It just doesn't flow, and that's the one thing I dislike about my blog.

I just like so many things that I want to write about them all and share them all with everyone, but I decided that in the new year I would make the changes necessary for this blog to be more connected and organised.

First, I had to decide on one or two things that I was passionate enough about to write about on a regular basis, cutting out everything that is irrelevant to those topics.

My main love is - and always has been - books. Although I haven't written too much about books on my blog, they often feature in my monthly favourites. So, for my new year's resolution I decided that I would start a YouTube channel, devoted to my love of books.

I set the channel up on New Year's Eve and I put up a trailer for my channel a couple of days later. You can watch it below:

Film Review: A Monster Calls

My first film of 2017 - on New Year's Day. I recently read the book that this film is based on for the second round of the WHSmith Zoella Book Club and I loved it. Patrick Ness, the author, also adapted his book to screenplay for the film. I love it when the author is able to do this as you have faith that the film will live up to expectations and will stick closely to the book.

My Top Ten: Films of 2016

This year I have been to the cinema 59 times to see 48 different films and I have reviewed 43 of them. So, here are my top ten movies out of those 48...

10. Finding Dory (*****)
After waiting more than ten years to see more from Nemo and Dory, Finding Dory finally arrived in cinemas. Baby Dory was the highlight of the movie but I loved the whole thing. Becky was also a favourite. It was just a fun, animated film with a lovely message about family. See my review here.

9. The Magnificent Seven (*****)
I'm not normally a massive fan of westerns or cowboy films, but I was hooked on this one from the moment it started. It was action-packed and it had funny moments too. I know it's a remake so I'm tempted to watch the old one now. See my review here.
