Film Review: Ant-Man

As you will probably know I am a huge fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but when I first heard about this film I was a little sceptical. I mean, how could a film with the title 'Ant-Man' be any good? It just sounded ridiculous and I had never even heard of this superhero or the comics he comes from.

However, my opinion changed drastically and very quickly when I saw the first full trailer.

First of all I love Paul Rudd. I remember his as Mike, Phoebe's partner in the TV series Friends. I also own some of his films like I Love You, Man and Role Models. He is a great comedy actor, but seeing him in this trailer - although with it's signature comedy moments that Marvel have now adopted into each film, which I love - this was a role that could give Paul Rudd the chance to play a more serious part.

I went into this movie expecting to like it a lot just because it was Marvel and they would have to do something truly horrible for me to dislike something, but I also still had that little niggling voice in the back of my mind saying 'You're seriously about to watch a movie called 'Ant-Man'? Why are you here, this sounds terrible?!'

But, boy was that little voice in my head wrong!

I thought this film was brilliant. It wasn't as good as Age of Ultron (obviously) but it is right up there with my favourites. Paul Rudd was phenomenal and I was happy to see at the end of the film they added 'Ant-Man will return' to the credits. I'd love to see what comes next with these characters.

I was really looking forward to the two end of credits scenes as well, which were both brilliant. The second one in particular was amazing as you got a glimpse of Captain America, leading on to the Civil War movie out in the summer of next year.

I don't want to tell you too much about this film really because I want you to go and see it and enjoy it for yourself, but know that it is full of action and those great comedy moments too. The cast was superb, with Michael Douglas was on top form, and you get that little cameo from Stan Lee too. I will definitely be going to see it for a second time at some point this coming week!

I would give this film:

I really enjoyed this movie, but just not as much as Avengers: Age of Ultron.

I'm also pretty excited for the next Marvel film, a reboot of Fantastic Four which comes out in two weeks. Although the mega-exciting Marvel movie is not out until next summer (Captain America: Civil War!)

I'm Loving: A Spoonful of Style

Back in January I shared with you one of my favourite bloggers, Taralynn McNitt of Simply Taralynn. So today I thought I would write a post about another blogger that I have been following for about a year and a half. Her name is Jade Scott and she has a fashion blog, A Spoonful of Style.

If you follow me on Pinterest, or even just my 'wear' board you may have noticed that there are a lot of pins of Jade from her website.

Jade always looks fabulous and posts the most amazing pictures on her blog and Instagram.

When I first came across A Spoonful of Style I spent hours going through every post, going right back to the beginning when Jade first started her blog. I pinned all of the outfits that I loved - which was basically everything!

I mean, just look at this lady's pictures and tell me you aren't in love with them?! It would be amazing to go through Jade's wardrobe!

Her latest blog posts have been even more fabulous since she had a gorgeous little baby girl almost seven months ago. These adorable photographs that are being thrown in are the cutest treat. Who doesn't love a fashionable Mummy and her beautiful baby daughter?!

So I'm going to stop waffling on now and leave you with a few more of my favourite photographs from this lovely lady's blog.

Get in my Wardrobe: The Next Sale

I went down to my nearest Next store last weekend to check out their sale, as everyone I know who goes every season brags about all the bargains they picked up. So I finally decided to go and they were right, I found so many lovely things. There was definitely a sparkly theme to my purchases, as I picked up sparkly shoes, trousers with sparkle thread detailing, and shimmery vest tops.

Here are my top five buys from the sale:

Gold Sparkle Driving Shoes

These beautiful sparkling driving shoes caught my eye right away! They were originally £30 but I got them for £14. The fit like a dream and when I wore them to the cinema the other day (to see Ant-Man - review coming soon!) I stretched my legs out in front of me during the trailers (we sit in the front row, I wasn't kicking anybody!) I couldn't get over how glittery they looked. A beautiful pair of shoes with a saving of £16 - that's better than half price!

Navy Sparkle Ballet Pumps

I had seen these ballet pumps in the store before and fell in love with them but they didn't have my size. I meant to order them online but completely forgot about them (I obviously didn't need them that badly at the time!) But when I went into the store and saw these again it all came flooding back. Flats were probably the one pair of shoes I needed so you can imagine how happy I was when I saw these shoes were half price, from £28 to £14! Two pairs of shoes on this shopping trip, costing me £28 instead of £58!

Pink Butterfly Beaded Bracelet

This little pretty bracelet was just a little something I picked up. I love bracelets that you can layer up, and the pale dusty pink of the beads is just beautiful. I also have a thing for butterflies lately so the little charm hanging on it just drew me in. And the bonus was that it only cost me £3 instead of £6, so I got myself another half price bargain.

Cashmere Makeup Palette

I originally picked this up and thought 'Who would this make a good gift for?' because it's so pretty. But the more I looked at it the more I thought about how I wanted it for myself! I am a little bit of a makeup addict and don't really need any more right now but it was too gorgeous to put back. It includes a lovely quad of eye shadows, a shimmering baked bronzing brick, black pencil eyeliner, a mini mascara with a great brush on it, and a creamy lipgloss. This beauty was also half price, reduced from £12 to £6. My usual bronzing brick costs more than £6 on its own so this palette was a brilliant buy!

Postcard Box Clutch Bag with Detachable Chain Handle

This bag was my favourite buy! I love box clutch bags that look like other items, such as a book. Kate Spade once did some beautiful book clutch bags, but this one was a fraction of the price, again at half price from £24 to £12. I love the postcard idea and there was no question about whether or not I would buy this once I'd got my hands on it!

Has anyone else here in the UK been to the Next sale? What did you think? Did you pick up any great bargains? Don't forget that the sales are still on-going in store and online here!
