My Top Ten: 2015 Oscars Dresses

Unfortunately because the Oscars take place in the US and having to be up early this morning I didn't get the chance to see any of the arrivals or awards last night, so I've had to catch up with it all this evening.

So, just like I did with the Golden Globes last month, I have trawled through all of the outfits from the red carpet and picked out my top ten.

And here they are, in reverse order:

10. Anna Kendrick: Anna looked so sophisticated on the red carpet. I love this colour on her and she made the right decision to simply, yet beautifully, had an up-do with this high-necked number. I love it!

9. Chrissy Teigen: She featured on my Golden Globes list in January at number 6, and although I absolutely adore this dress (it's something I would choose if I was to ever - not likely - go to an event like this) but it's just a little too revealing for me. Although, if you've got it, flaunt it I guess! You go, girl!

8. Jessica Chastain: I adore this woman as an actress, and this midnight blue is perfect for her. She always dresses so elegantly, it's so simple and classic. A true natural beauty.

7. Anna Faris: You know I'm a sucker for a bit of sparkle and beading, so when I saw this beauty in this stunning fully-bedazzled gown my eyes lit up. Anna looks gorgeous, and her man Chris scrubs up well too.

6. Reese Witherspoon: A very simple Tom Ford gown, but Reese still shines. The cut of this dress is incredible and it hugs the Wild actress in all the right place. Plus with that dark band on her tiny waist, she has a figure to-die-for!

5. Zoe Saldana: How gorgeous does this new mother look in custom Atelier Versace?! The shape and flow of this fabric is doing everything for her curves right now. Nude was a popular colour this year at the Oscars.

4. Rosamund Pike: This red Givenchy dress is - in a word - amazing. The detailing on it is beautiful and it gives her a lovely shape. The Gone Girl star definitely qualifies as 'Oscar-worthy' in this.

3. Jennifer Lopez: J.Lo looks stunning in Elie Saab! Those of you who know my taste in designers will know that Elie Saab gowns are my absolute favourite! This dress started off as my favourite for the night (when I had only seen about three dresses) but a couple of others just beat it. But still, it's a breath-taking dress.

2. Jamie Chung: Now this is an Oscar gown! Jamie went all-out with this stunning firework-inspired number. It only just missed out on my number one spot. So close! Still, I wouldn't turn down the chance to wear it.

1. Emma Stone: I told you I loved Elie Saab, right? Emma is the vision of true Hollywood glamour at the Oscars for me this year. It's couture, embellished, and a truly unique colour against the palettes that everyone else modelled on the red carpet. Now, who wants to buy me this and take me somewhere worthy of wearing it?

So which dress what your favourite? Do you agree with my choices and comments? You can find me on twitter or comment below.

The National Wedding Show 2015

I was so excited to have the chance to be at The National Wedding Show 2015 in London yesterday. The three-day event is the perfect place for brides-to-be to gather ideas, taste some cake, and even try on some dresses.

I took along my Mum (pictured above, right), my Auntie (left), and my Nan (back).

I was most excited about two things, with the first being that I could see (and try on!) some of the stunning gowns by Allure Bridal being showcased by Great Expectations, a bridal store based in Buckhurst Hill in Essex. I tried on two dresses, which were both very different but equally beautiful. I would love to post the photos to share with you but I don't want to risk Clay seeing them. You can view the latest collection by Allure here.

The second thing I was excited about was the chance to see the latest Alfred Angelo collection on the catwalk. With me being a bit of a Disney nut I was ecstatic when I heard that the new Disney collection would be included in the show.

Below are the pictures I took of the Alfred Angelo show, including the Disney wedding gowns. You can kind of tell which dress belongs to which princess but I've labelled them to make things easier. Also, look out for that new Elsa dress, it's to die for, although my favourites were the 'Tiana' (from The Princess and the Frog) and the 'Cinderella'.

Opening the catwalk with some show-stopping gowns

All the gowns were beautiful

Introducing the 'Elsa' dress

It's so shimmery, just like the real thing

I love how similar it is to the film

I would love the chance to wear this

Introducing the new 'Jasmine' (Aladdin)

Snow White was up next (yes, it comes it white too)

The gorgeous new sparkling 'Ariel' (The Little Mermaid)

Three princesses together

The breath-taking new 'Tiana' gown (The Princess and the Frog)

This 'Tiana' gown was my favourite

The new 'Cinderella' came in close second

The new 'Belle' gown was just like in the movie

You can see the Alfred Angelo bridal collection, including the Disney Fairy Tale dresses here.

I had a fabulous time and was so glad I got the opportunity to attend.

Did you go to The National Wedding Show? What was your favourite part? Are there any other good shows you would recommend going to?

I can't wait to share my wedding details as we go about planning our big day.

A Little More About Myself

So I thought that although last month I did a little introductory post to my blog and told you a little bit about myself, that way you will know what to expect from my blog posts.

I must thank some of my family and friends for this post because they helped me compose a list of general questions of things that you may want to know about someone, including some that were just for fun.

Me and my family...
As mentioned in my 'Welcome' post I am 22-years-old and currently living at home, although if you saw my post entitled 'A New Adventure' you'll know that I'm moving out soon. But right now I live with my parents and my younger brother, Ellis, who will be 21 next month. My family all live pretty close together, with a lot of us along one long road, which is handy when you forget your key and no one is home when you get back!

My education and work...
I left high school in 2008 with ten GCSEs A*-C, including the Double Science Award, Media Studies, English language and literature, Business and Communications Systems (which is computer-based business studies), and Mathematics.

I then went on to study A-Levels in Media Studies, Sociology, English Language, and Psychology. I graduated in 2010.

I then took a year out to get some work experience and think about what I wanted to do next, before starting my studies with the Open University (part time, so I could work at the same time) in 2011. I'm still completing my 'Open Degree' while I work in a primary school. I will finish my studies in May 2016, with me completing a year of full-time study starting October this year. My degree is classed as 'open' because it's a combination of early education studies and creative writing.

My aim is to become a primary school teacher, whilst writing on the side as it has always been a passion of mine.

My relationship status...
I haven't actually shared this before but I am currently engaged. I have been with my fiancé Clay since Christmas 2009 and for my 21st birthday  in 2013 he took me to New York, where he proposed in Central Park.

My favourite movies...
I'm pretty easy to please with films as I like so many genres. My Mum calls me a boy because if I'm on my own watching a film it's usually a Marvel movie. I love Ironman, Thor, Captain America, X-Men, and my ultimate favourite Avengers Assemble. Obviously, I'm excited for Avengers: Age of Ultron coming this April!

I'm a lover of all Disney movies, especially Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid, Tangled, and Aladdin.

Then there's the girly films and musicals that I love, such as Mamma Mia, Into the Woods, PS I Love You, Moulin Rouge, Mean Girls, and Legally Blonde.

A few other favourites of mine are The Great Gatsby, Midnight in Paris, and The Imitation Game.

My favourite TV shows...
My favourite shows again are varied, from The Hills to Sherlock. I also love Cranford and Return to Cranford and The Hollow Crown series.

I love my comedy shows, especially Mrs Brown's Boys, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, Family Guy, and Friends.

My favourite shows and plays...
I love all musicals, especially Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, and Jersey Boys. My favourite west-end/Broadway stars are Samantha Barks, Ramin Karimloo (who I am pictured with below), Norm Lewis, Hadley Fraser, and Sierra Boggess.
I also enjoy watching plays. The best of the ones I have seen include Frankenstein (with Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller), Coriolanus (with Tom Hiddleston, Mark Gatiss, and Hadley Fraser), Clarence Darrow (with Kevin Spacey), and one that I'm seeing in October, but I know it will be amazing, is Hamlet (with Benedict Cumberbatch, again).

My favourite actors...
From my previous topic I guess who can tell I'm a big fan of Benedict Cumberbatch. I also like Tom Hiddleston, Robert Downey Jr., Meryl Streep, Emma Watson, Robin Williams, Sam Claflin, Jennifer Lawrence, Scarlett Johansson, and Shailene Woodley.

My favourite music...
Again, it's so varied. I love current music by the likes of Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, George Ezra, Meghan Trainor, Olly Murs, Rita Ora, The Saturdays, and Take That.

I also love classical/operatic style music, or 'popera' as some call it, including Alfie Boe (who I am pictured with below), Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Collabro, Il Divo. I also often listen to musical soundtracks like Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Into the Woods, Mamma Mia, and Jersey Boys.

Then I have a passion for country music, although I don't play it out loud much because my family don't like it. I love the old style of people like Hank Williams, but I love newer stars such as Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, and The Rascal Flatts.

My favourite books...
I love to read! My favourites include The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, High Rise by J.G. Ballard, The Fault in our Stars by John Green, Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, and Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.

My favourite author is Cecelia Ahern. I have all of her books and it is very hard to choose a favourite between PS I Love You, Where Rainbows End, How to Fall in Love, and The Year I Met You.

I also love the classics, like Jane Eyre, Tess of the d'Urbervilles, and Pride and Prejudice, and I am a massive fan of Shakespeare, my favourite texts being Romeo and Juliet, Coriolanus, Hamlet, Macbeth, and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

My favourite make-up brands and perfumes...
I love different brands for different things. I will post a lot about make-up and new products, but overall my favourites are MAC, Max Factor, Maybelline, Rimmel, Chanel, Benefit, and elf.

My favourite perfumes are anything by Victoria's Secret, especially Victoria, Love Spell, Passion Struck, and Bombshell. I also love Vera Wang Princess, Elie Saab L'eau Couture, Versace Yellow Diamond, and, although I haven't owned it yet, Chloe Love Story.

My favourite hair products...
I have to be quite careful with what goes on my head because I have mild psoriasis and certain products irritate. I will do a few posts in the future about what I use and treatments I've tried but most often I use baby shampoo (because there is a certain chemical in most shampoos that I've been advised not to use and the baby products I've used don't contain it) and pure coconut oil treatments (again, I'll post more about this at a later date because coconut oil is good for almost everyone).

My favourite shops, clothing brands and designers...
If I could live in a shop it would be Victoria's Secret. I could make do with the most beautiful underwear I've ever seen, their PINK branded sweatpants and t-shirts, and my favourite perfumes!

I love River Island, it's my favourite by far. I sometimes find the odd items in Topshop, Primark, Forever 21, and New Look too.

In terms of designers, I love Kate Spade and Elie Saab the most, and it's too difficult to choose a favourite. I spent over an hour in a Kate Spade store in New York, which was my first time in a store rather than admiring it all online. Elie Saab gowns are just the prettiest!

My favourite places to travel to...
I love going into London, even though it's so close, it's amazing and there is something new to see, do, try, and go every time. I'm always finding new restaurants, cafés, bookstores, museums, and bakeries. Plus, there are so many green areas in and around London to go for walks. My favourites are Primrose Hill and Hampstead Heath.

New York is an obvious favourite for me. We spent a week there and I could have quite easily stayed a lot longer. The weather was hot, the food was incredible, and there was just so much to see and do. Clay and I had New York Passes to get into a lot of attractions such as the Empire State, Rockerfeller Center, and Madame Tussauds.

I've also been to Disneyland Paris a number of times, which is always fun, but I would love to go into Paris properly too.

My charity work...
I've done a lot of little things of charity, especially working at the school, with things such as 'wear your pyjamas to work day', 'wear a silly hat day', and so on.

Last year I took part in the Live Below the Line challenge for UNICEF, living off £1 a day for food and drink for five days, and raised £100. You can see the details for this years challenge here.

Last summer I also took part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and donated to the MND Association. You can see the video here.

My favourite food and drinks...
Like most people I love all the foods that you shouldn't eat very often, so even though I love pizza, Chinese food, pancakes with maple syrup, glazed doughnuts, and red velvet cake, I want you to know that I don't eat them all the time. My favourite meal is actually fish pie, or anything with fish really.

I drink a lot of water, but my favourite has got to be a vanilla milkshake. I know, I'm a big kid, but give me a vanilla milkshake and I'm happy.

My fitness routine...
I try to work out a little each day, even if it's just some toning exercises that I can do in my room. My favourite thing to do is follow the Tone It Up girls Karena and Katrina with their weekly schedules, fitness routines and workout DVDs. They are amazing and you can check them out here. I'm sure I'll be writing more about them in the future.

And just for fun...
Red or blue? Blue
Morning or evening? Evening
Roses or Lilies? Roses - although peonies are my favourite
Chocolate or vanilla? Vanilla
Coffee or tea? Both, but probably more tea
Cake or biscuits? Cake
Heels or flats? Both again, I can't choose just one
Lipstick or lipgloss? This is hard... lipgloss
Sing or dance: Dance - although I sing in the car when I'm by myself
Beer or wine: Wine

A New Adventure!

I'm so excited so share this news - I'm moving out! I love being at home and living with my parents (and my brother - sometimes!) and I can't imagine having my 'base' very far away from where I am now. So, luckily, the house is only a short walk away from my family. Most of my family live on the same street so it's nice to not be too far away.

The house is a new build so it isn't actually completed yet, but I kind of like that because it's a blank canvas.

So I'll be posting updates about this, sharing the house as it's finished, what's going into it, and what it looks like when it's all done!

Are there any tips you'd like to share with me? Is there anything for the house that you would recommend I purchase?
